MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST, LCSW-MSSW,
OWNER OF FYS

I have been working in the field of social work for over 30 years. Throughout that time I have developed an eclectic but holistic approach, meeting each client where they are and incorporating art, play, yoga, exercise, gardening, healthy eating, among many others things. While remaining evidence based in the formal Trauma-Focused CBT training I have. I work with all age ranges but have specialized in working with kids & families for the past thirty years. I have a special interest in working with young women who are learning how to handle what life throws at them with courage, strength, and grace. There are always going to be people who are hurting emotionally and I feel called to be a guide to walk with them on their healing journey. My work with my clients is my calling. I truly believe that each person who comes to Feed your Soul has been guided there by God and it’s then my job to walk alongside them on their journey. My end goal in therapy is to not be needed, so my focus is on teaching tools that empower each client to solve their own problems. There’s nothing that a therapist likes to hear more from a client than ‘I think I’ve got this.’

MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST - LCSW

I believe I have always had a calling for helping people in need. I worked and volunteered as an EMT and a Domestic Violence Response Team Advocate in New Jersey for upwards of 10 years. From there, I began to explore other ways in which I could continue to help in a deeper sense--which lead me to social work. I immediately fell in love with the profession and what it means to be a Social Worker. I graduated from Rutgers University in NJ with my MSW, LSW, and a certification in Violence Against Women and Children. I immediately began working at a Residential Treatment Facility for adolescent boys within the criminal justice system before moving here to TN with my husband.

I believe in meeting people where they are, and with that comes an eclectic approach to therapy. I am a formally trained ASD-CS (Autism Spectrum Disorder-Clinical Specialist), CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional) and trained in Trauma-Focused CBT and Sandtray Therapy. I incorporate an array of skills that I have developed throughout my years in social work, as well as an Emergency Responder, in order to help guide and empower clients to a path of healing. I like to teach clients the skills and tools in order for them to pick up and become the guide of their own journey.

Trauma has a way of rendering us powerless, making us
susceptible to believing lies about ourselves. People often feel stuck if they have experienced a dysfunctional, traumatic background. I have a passion to reach people who have lost hope or belief in themselves due to traumatic events. Trauma is not just in the mind and thoughts, but often gets buried in the body. If not gently assisted out of the mind and body, it can lead to sickness and disease. My desire is to help clients not only get their voices back, but also get their health back. In 2011, I graduated with a masters in social work from Union University. In December 2022, I graduated with a masters in pastoral counseling with a focus on crisis response and trauma. I have been trained in TF-CBT and CBT. I am a certified yoga therapist and certified in trauma-sensitive yoga. I am also certified as a life coach and health coach. I can personally testify to the benefits of mindfulness, yoga, and dietary changes. I have experience in working with trauma and addictions. I have seen schema therapy help clients change imbedded core beliefs that have kept them stuck over the years. I have also led groups for narcissistic abuse, trauma sensitive yoga, parenting, and grief. I also have a desire to work with the Internal Family Systems approach. There is freedom from the past if we look in the right direction. Hope truly does anchor the soul! (Hebrews 6:19).

MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST - M.S. ED. PSYSCHOLOGY

I have been trained in and use CBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, CRM. I see clients of all ages, but I especially enjoy working with clients aged from 5-18. I have experience in working with clients who have issues with trauma, mood instabilities, sexual abuse trauma. When I was a senior in high school I worked for a summer camp for at-risk children and I had the best time with them. They opened up to me about their trauma and abuse and I was there to listen and encourage them. That summer coupled with my love for helping people, showed me my purpose. Cognitive behavioral therapy is my approach.  I like to help individuals focus on their thoughts and behaviors and how they are affecting their life. Being EMDR trained, I believe that using desensitization can help individuals to be free of their disturbing memories and live a happier life. First, I would make sure that the client feels comfortable in the office. I’d make sure they felt that I was not judging them but showing them unconditional positive regard. Also, I would ask the client what they hope to gain from therapy and help them to set goals that can be used as a guidepost for future sessions.

MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST - LMSW

I graduated from Union University with my Bachelors in Social Work in 2020, and immediately continued in school to get my Masters in Social Work the following year. I have been training and working as a mental health therapist at Feed your Soul for the past year. During this time I have gained experience using CBT, art therapy, and solution focused therapy with teens and adolescents. I also approach therapy from an eclectic point of view, by combining interventions and models to fit the uniqueness of my client. My favorite part about therapy is having the honor of being able to hear the struggles that my clients are going through. Then being able to use the knowledge I have to assist and encourage them to find or make solutions to overcome their issues.

Kaitlyn Thomas

MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST - MSW

I am a West Tennessee native, who has spent the last six years in the mountains of East Tennessee, gaining my Bachelor degree and Master of Social Work. Through those years in the mountains, I worked with adolescents & their families, as well as a diverse clientele from all walks of life. Diversity & culture make us who we are and both are very important to the therapeutic process. I value meeting individuals and their families while encouraging them to utilize their own unique abilities and attributes in their healing. Each person has their own timeline and level of need ~ my focus is on meeting you where you are.
I am passionate about integrating expressive arts into therapy and making your sessions an experience you look forward to, while also bringing you more personal awareness through evidenced-based practice. Additionally, I think therapy should be unique to the client ~ each session will be tailored to fit your needs and goals through strength-based, client-centered, and collaborative approaches.
